Seunghyup Yoo received the Ph.D. degree in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona (Tucson, USA) for his work on organic thin-film solar cells done under the guidance of Prof. Bernard Kippelen. Until 2006, he was with School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, USA) as a research scientist. In August 2006, he joined the faculty of Dept. of Electrical Engineering at KAIST (Daejeon, Korea), where he is currently a Full Professor. Prof. Yoo and his research group, Integrated Organic Electronics Lab (IOEL), have been focusing on developing novel device architectures and processes based on organic and other emerging semiconductors in the following areas: display & lighting, energy, and flexible low-cost electronics. Key achievements include (but are not limited to) development of :
-
ultrathin polymer gate dielectrics for low-power soft electronics (inf.)
-
digital-mode “jet-on-demand” organic vapor jet printing (inf.)
-
UHF-compatible ultrafast and organic rectifier with a very low voltage drop (inf.)
-
outcoupling enhancement scheme based on conductive low-index layers for efficient OLEDs (inf.)
-
efficient flexible OLEDs on PEN with high refractive index and built-in scattering properties (inf.)
Prof. Yoo published many papers in internationally renowned journals since 1999 and holds several Korean and international patents with more than twenty registered and many others under review. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor in Optics Express as well as in J. Information Display. Prof. Yoo has been leading KAIST Samsung Display Research Center since its foundation in 2011.
